Data Restoration Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

The Data Restoration Specialist is responsible for Data Migration services pertaining to various data backup softwares and media format types, technology, IT and engineering related projects, solutions and maintenance initiatives. The Data Restoration Engineer will be largely involved in supporting the Data Migration Services of restoring various data backup softwares to current LTO formats or client specific delivery methods . The Data Restoration Specialist will need to have an in-depth understanding and expertise in IT, media workflows, data restoration and has the technical and logical skills to recover data from computer storage devices, equipment and/or information systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Extensive involvement in the solution development / workflow development of projects, along with all DevOps operations that occur during the lifecycle of a project.

  • Management and maintenance of Data Restoration related servers, NAS/SAN storage environments, tape libraries, drives, and an array of data recovery devices.

  • Administrative understanding of the following Operating Systems: Windows Desktop, Windows Server, Linux (CentOS), Mac OS (current and legacy versions).

  • Staying up to date with current and upcoming technologies and trends that can enhance IMES capabilities and service offerings.

  • Create and maintain documentation for POCs and projects including hardware and data backup software types.

  • Well versed in recovering data from various media types; magnetic data tape (LTO, DLT, AIT, etc), optical media (CD, DVD, Bluray, Magneto, etc), Internal and External hard disks, Portable storage devices (Flash, SD cards) and Enterprise storage (SAN, NAS, RAID)

  • Understanding of open source and other proprietary data backup software types (LTFS, TAR, Retrospect, NETbackup, Commvault, BackupExec, etc)

  • Maintaining accurate inventory and asset tags of all studio infrastructure, equipment and hardware.

  • Understanding of network topology, switching and firewalls.

  • Systems maintenance and troubleshooting (Corporate and non-Corporate, Mac, Windows, Linux - from legacy to current gen) including iPads, printers, barcode scanners, and flatbed scanners; iOS device configuration and updates.

  • Media remediation and preservation for all POC and project assets.

  • Serve as a technical SME on clients sales call, Must be fluent in data restoration hardware, formats, technology, and processes and be able to articulate how IMES technical services support the client's needs..

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years’ experience working with technology, IT, or engineering in a globally dispersed organization.

  • Associate/Bachelor degree (Computer Science, IT, or relevant field of study or experience) from a college or university.

  • Media workflow experience; Scripting and automation experience (Python, Shell, etc) is a plus.

  • Strong interest in media preservation (audio, video, data, photography and film).

  • Participation in agile/scrum projects in fast-paced development environments.

  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Well established communication and documentation skills; Demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Understanding of Studio and/or Post Production technologies, equipment and infrastructure.

  • Understanding of IT service management.

  • Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills.

  • The ability to work in a matrix environment.

  • Maintain a strong working relationship with 3 rd party partners/vendors.
