The Role
Iron Mountain's Warehousing and Logistics 3PL unit offers secure pallet storage, inventory management, and transportation services. Specialising in efficiency, cost reduction, and compliance, their scalable solutions optimise logistics and support a wide range of industries, ensuring smooth management of palletised goods and supply chain demands.
Based Magna Park, Lutterworth, with occasional travel across warehousing + Logistics (W+L) sites in the UK
The Stock, Systems and Planning Manager reports to the General Manager, Magna Park. Leads a small team of an Inventory Manager / Supervisor and Stock Controllers. Provides accurate and timely information to the General Manager, the Operations Director and Management teams to assist and facilitate the successful delivery of shared user services. Uses systems and other tools to effectively plan manpower and other resources from all available sources of information.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides key information on all inventory related issues - develops and manages reports for internal and external use
Support and develops customer requirements for all stock-related challenges
Acts as the key link between operations and the wider IT community for WMS and other systems
Supports development of systems to improve operational efficiency
Provides analytical support to operations for labour planning, headcount, productivity
Supports operational decision-making by providing insight and analysis
Accountable for the delivery of all stock integrity and the management of related KPIs across all contracts
Develops, with the operations team, best practice and standardisation of all control processes
Responsible for key control measures, including the integrity of the end user client’s stock to ensure customer service levels are maintained, SLAs are met and that the WMS is accurate at all times
Leads on development of systems to support items inclusive of user experience
Builds strong working relationships with all key stakeholders to ensure first class operational delivery, with a focus on stock integrity and planning accuracy
Serves as the lead point of contact for all stock related performance issues
Delivers a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement by utilising the most appropriate methodology on a consistent basis
Enables audit governance to ensure adherence to specific regulatory body standards and client standards as required from time to time
Ability to create detailed and trend analysis that identify route cause and resolution through Root Cause and Corrective Action principles
Designs and implements action plans that increase quality, inventory accuracy and quality of service to meet customer requirements and with the ability to upscale and adapt to increased customer demand.
Develops and delivers the inventory strategy, and the standardisation and implementation of robust processes. Responsible for ensuring all inventory policies and practices are adhered to and adopted throughout the W+L business.
Responsible for rolling out an Audit programme across all sites.
Oversees customer stock takes and audits.
Will be required to facilitate, coach and motivate cross functional teams to achieve stock management objectives
Communicates and liaises with other departments to ensure a smooth & effective customer experience
Leads customer review meetings and participates in tenders / presentations
Proactively seeks opportunities for business improvements within contracts
Must be able to demonstrate a proactive and positive approach in supporting operations
Ability to travel to other sites in the W+L network and provide support as required
Proactively leads the Inventory Management team to achieve planned targets and deadlines, objectively measuring performance providing regular reviews, feedback and coaching within a successful “can do” culture
Actively manages the teams’ success and development through appraisals and performance reviews, coaching and developing, leading a high performing team and creating succession plans
Experience, Skills and Attributes
Experience of working with Manhattan WMS is strongly desirable - other WMS experience essential
Third party logistics experience desirable
Strong data analysis skills - and the ability to quickly assess raw data and create reports
Clear, simple and respectful communication in both verbal and written form
Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate at all levels
Critical thinking skills, being able to analyse datasets and establish conclusions that allow the right decisions to be made
Commitment to providing customers with the highest standards of service in an appropriately timely manner
Demonstrable ability to communicate with and influence key stakeholders at all levels of the client’s organisation
Leadership of a team of Stock and Systems experts. Build positive team culture in line with overall W+L direction
Continuous improvement of existing platforms to ensure best practice is continually bettered
Ability to challenge others on their methods of working and manage process adherence
Strong attention to detail
