POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Job Title: Film Scanner Operators (entertainment services)
Location: 19826 Russell Road South, Kent WA
Pay Rate: $35 -40/hr. (negotiable depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5pm
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare 16mm and 35mm film for scanning (including using an ultrasonic film cleaner
Film asset migration (digitization), remediation and reformat in the digital studio space
Research – format and metadata identification/verification
Project management, work logs, asset tracking, chain of custody, archival engineer reports for all asset production work
Project Sales and Business Development support as subject matter expert (SME)
Troubleshoot, calibrate and general maintenance/upkeep of existing equipment (software and hardware) (list equipment?)
Required Skills/ Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years direct industry experience required. Job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of current and obsolete motion picture formats and recording/playback processes.
This position leverages prior experience functioning in a studio environment and integrating technical expertise to optimize archival migration process workflows. Strong team and interpersonal skills are required in addition to technical and business expertise.
Working knowledge of multiple Digital Workstation (DW) platforms (MAC/PC): Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premier, QuickTime, Black Magic, iMovie
Familiarity with all historic analog and digital film media formats including, but not limited to: 8mm, Super 8mm, 16mm, 35mm, film formats
As necessary, extensive film preparation is required for all elements , including perforation repair, new head and tail leader, film assembly, coring, cleaning (hand and ultrasonic), and removal of dried out splices and new splice replacement.
Familiarity with digital media archive organization, inventory and tracking
Archival and Work Logs – detailed asset tracking of all production work and metadata
Familiarity with secure electronic and physical file delivery
Understanding of film stock and formulas (acetate, estar base, nitrate, print, negative)
Remediation and stabilization of film media. Able to identify deterioration and recommend/execute remediation for safe playback/capture
Set-up and configuration of film scanning equipment
Attention to detail/quality control procedures
